Since starting the blog, my aim has always been to educate people not only on the fact that we are family like any other, but also on disability and everything that comes along with it.
However, what I have found over the last 2 years is that there is also plenty that I can learn from our followers i.e. their perceptions of people with disabilities.
Recently, I decided that I would try and answer some of those questions that people have for me when it comes to being a parent of a child with special needs, and I encouraged our followers to ask me questions no matter how uncomfortable for me, as its important that I help educate others and give them an insight into what life is really like.

A trip along the river – Killaloe,Ballina,Mountshannon and Garrykennedy

Since Denis and I started our romance all of 15 years ago we have been coming to Killaloe Co Clare.

And from the first time we went there I fell head over heels in love with the area and of course Lough derg and the river Shannon.

Denis’ parents, which is very fortunate for us have a boat which they keep docked in Killaloe all year round, so we are able to take trips out around the lake and up the river a couple of times a year.Read More »

Teaching your child about disabilities, and how it’s essential before they begin school.

It’s August, the end of the summer holidays is nigh, and while most of us seasoned parents can’t wait for school to start-up again, for those first time parents of school going kids it’s a scary new world.
